Our gorgeous house cow Daisy being hand milked. We've only had Daisy a couple of months. She arrived heavily pregnant and her beautiful bull calf, Patch, is the love of her life. I love watching them together. I know he's the first calf she's had that she's had the opportunity to feed and love. Daisy is an ex-dairy cow and she has settled in well to life here with us and the twice daily ritual of being hand milked. The dairy I got her from have been such a big help and I will be forever grateful to them for allowing such a lovely cow to come to us. Daisy has her own little calf on her plus I feed 3 little Jersey heifer calves with her milk and she keeps my family of 5 in milk too. She's a very clever girl and we love her dearly.

  • I have milked 'Daisy' from the back, usually when her calf was on her and that seemed like the best position to be in at the time. I guess it depends on the cow and their temperament, maybe I was just lucky as Daisy has never actually kicked me - she has threatened, but nothing too serious!!!!!

  • Hi there, We're doing this as a lifestyle choice! We want our children to know where milk really comes from and veggies and meat too etc. We've only been on our property a year, after we moved out from the 'burbs'. We love living here with our gorgeous animals, we are very lucky indeed. Daisy is a lovely cow, in fact all our cows are lovely! Thank you for your nice comment.

  • What a nice video. We get raw milk from a local farm that has jersey cows. I like it much better than holstein because of the higher fat content - tastes much better! Congratulations on your cow and I hope it's still going well for you. I'm envious! :)

  • how long does it take approximatly to milk out a gallon?

  • would it be VERY unwise to milk from the back? Thats how I milk my goats but of course my goats cant kick the crap outta me :)

  • Are you starting out as a small dairy farm that will grow from here?

or are you just going to stay with the cattle you got and be a family

farm without a business of farming.

This cow is very lucky to be in your farm
