With the win over Burkina Faso by 1-0, Nigeria won for the third time African Cup title and guaranteed spot in the Confederations Cup, held in Brazil from 15 to 30 June. After the final whistle, Enyeama was up to the most unusual celebration. Shortly after delivering the ball to the referee, the Nigerian goalkeeper's legs embraced Algerian Djamel Haimoudi and tried to lift him in the air. Then it was the turn of the opponent Pitroipa, who was still trying to digest the defeat, be embraced.

During the final, played at Soccer City in Johannesburg (South Africa), Enyeama had little work in the Nigerian goal. Only one bid represented a real danger when Nakolma, Burkina Faso, Sanou left in great condition. The attacker's cross-kick was saved by goalkeeper Nigerian.

African champions in 1980 and 94 in Group B Nigeria enters the Confederations Cup, alongside Spain, Uruguay and Tahiti. The premiere will be on 17 June against the Tahitians in Mineirão in Belo Horizonte. Brazil may be opponent in a semifinal or final - what reeditaria the semifinal of the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, won by Africans by 4-3.
