@jr026 thats because you are trying to engage your starter before it stops spinning. Wait until you here it wind down and then try it again. Otherwise you are going to ruin the starter drive and the ring gear on the flywheel, and that will be a pain to fix because you either pull the engine or the transmission to get to the flywheel.
