The panda was restless during the delivery; meanwhile,the staff at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding sat anxiously behind the fence watching. When the first cub was born, the mother picked up her cub swiftly and cradled it under her chin. Later, Shortly after the second cub (only 51 gram at birth) was born, the staff carefully scooped up the cub and bottle-fed it inside a incubator.

Pandas can have up to 3 cubs but will only take care of one because of their diet, mom does not produce enough nutrients for more than one cub

Just curious why this mother panda is forced to labor and give birth in a cold cement cage similar to a jail cell, without any soft hay or leaves to give her comfort and some traction when trying to move around on a slick cement floor.
