Bumping up Saturation on key areas, using USM to clarify & sharpen, using the Surface Blur filter, low opacity airbrushing , and the Texturizer filter, can turn an ordinary portrait photo into a work of art.

  • Hi! I LOVE your tutorials! I was wondering what kind of tablet you use? I'm looking for an inexpensive but decent tablet that would work well for photo editing as well as drawing. Any recommendations? Thank you! :) Heather

  • @artanddesignstudios Unfortunately, anything worth buying isn't going to be cheap. I recommend the Wacom Intuos versions...any intuos, maybe even a used one. The bamboo and graphire types are a waste of money as they only have 512 levels of sensitivity vs 1024+ levels that the Intuos versions offer.

  • Photoshopmama, you are the best. Please don't listen to the nay sayers. Keep up the good work with the good tutorials. And thank you for being benevolent with you knowledge.

  • Thanks and I will!

  • what a stupid way of using photoshop. But I guess its true that some people consider that an honor staying closer to the birds than wishing that they had wings..

  • Perhaps you are an artist who is bound by traditional mediums so you find anything digital that simulates art offensive or below the bar. I am also a traditional artist AND a digital artist and thoroughly enjoy the broader scope of creating with a much bigger "palette." I am also a progressive and futurist and embrace NEW things and adapt pretty easily. We would still be in the Dark Ages if most of us didn't. See some photos of my traditional art in Gallery 2 of my shanzcan dot com Website.

  • Hi there photomama!!

Let me thank your for your patience and goodwill.

Second, as I am not a native speaker, I thank you for your pronunciation. Your voice is so clear and at such a controlled speed I have no problem following your instructions.

Last, I will use photoshop to make paintings from photos and sell them in a catalog. I've already made some n I am sure ppl will buy cos most just want a beautiful art hanging, not necessarily a masterpiece.

Hugs and keep doing your nice work!

  • the girl in the picture looks like ijustine!!
