Dude it does sound like POTC. Fucking jack sparrow in space. However, I think thats kinda of the idea , isnt this song played in scene where the crew goes AWOL and steal the Macross Quarter. The captain even says we are no longer soldiers working for UN Spacy we are now space pirates fighting for themselves.

This is a reference to the pirates of the caribbean because Yoko Kanno loves the series. And its fitting for the situation. Its kinda like how that BGM from EVA sounds like the James Bond theme and how another macross theme sounds like the tie fighter theme.

I respect your opinion, my good... Sir/Madam. In my opinion, this is strangely similar to a pre-existing song, and music from Yoko Kanno has that tendency. But, that said, It's hard to tell between half of John Williams' music, some of which is audible in certain pieces composed by Ms. Kanno. That is my opinion, you have yours, and as an American, I respect that.

Of course, I like to think that logic and reason will even have a place on the internet.

As for that downvote, it was entirely a screw-up on my part. By the time I realized my mistake, it was too late. Apologies. I've fixed that now.

And, finally, I think we could drag this debate regarding Kanno on for ages without getting anywhere. We might as well accept that our opinions differ, as I doubt that either of us will change our views on it.
