Mandolinist Alon Sariel, performs Vivaldi's concerto per mandolino at the MIM Musical Instrument Museum of Brussels, Belgium, 27.6.08.
As part of the Israeli Early Music Project, violinists Ann Knop and, gamba player Alexandra Polin and Avital Reshef holding the thorbe, are joining Sariel to perform this work by Antonio Vivaldi.

After wining top prizes at the International Mandolin Award, the International Calace Competition, the Jerusalem Academy Competition for String Instruments, The Jerusalem Academy Chamber Music Competition, the Monart Center Competitions and Serni Foundation Competitions, and several more - Mandolinist Alon Sariel is making his name as one of the world wide leading mandolin players.
Awarded scholarships from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation since 2002, Sariel performes widely in Israel, Europe and the Far East as member of ensembles and orchestras such as Daniel Barenboim's West Eastern Divan, the Royal Estudiantina La Napolitaine consisting of musicians from Belgium, England, Switzerland and France, Kaprizma Ensemble and others. Sariel has played as soloist with several orchestras in Israel among them The Israeli Chamber Orchestra, The Israeli Symphonietta, Jerusalem Radio Symphony, Ashdod Chamber Orchestra and Haifa Symphony and under the baton of coductors such as Paul Biss, Doron Solomon, Vag Papian and Menachem Nevenhois and others. Collaborates regularly with first class artists such as the jazz and intuitive-music artist Markus Stockhausen and gives master classes at prestigious schools such as the Trinity College of Music (London).
Sariel is a sought out chamber music player and was founder of several ensembles such as the Jerusalem Baroque Trio and Duo Sariel-Ghilione, was invited to record a program of mandolin and piano at Maestro Arie Vardi popular television program Intermezzo, conducted the Israeli Plectrum Orchestra, played several times in live broadcast to Kol HaMusica Radio Station in Israel, once in live broadcast through the BBC television channel and recorded for labels such as Albany records (UK).
Sariel has participated, playing and lecturing, in important international festivals such as Wight-Night Marathon for Jazz and Avant-garde in Tel Aviv, "Sounds in the Desert Festival" and "Kfar Blum Festival" which are also broadcasted through Israeli radio and television, Logrono (Spain) Festival for Plucked Instruments, the International Plectrum Festival of Beer-Sheva (Israel), Incontri Musicsli Festival of Bonassola (Italy), the Riviera Guitar Festival in Savona (Italy), International Mandolin Academy (Italy) and many more.
Sariel is a graduate of the Jerusalem Academy for Music and Dance and also studied orchestra directing and the Arch-lute at the Brussels Royal Conservatory. Participated in master-classes with widely known mandolin players such as Ugo Orlandi and Carlo Aonzo (The Academy for Italian Mandolin 07), the violinist Ilan Gronich (Sounds in the Valley Seminar 06), the lutenist Ophira Zackai and the recorder virtuoso Corina Marti (Jerusalem Early Music Work-Shop 07) the Jazz and intuitive music artist Markus Stockhausen (Wight Night 07) and the renown Clarinettist Giora Feidman (Safed Kleizmer Work-Shop 06). This year Sariel plans to earn his Master degree studying with Mr. Bari Moskovich and Mr. Evgeny Tsirlin at the Jerusalem Music Academy.
The situation in the middle-east is an issue which Alon normally puts effort to change. While serving in the IDF as an "outstanding musician" status, Sariel was a member of the Jewish-Arab youth orchestra with them he toured Europe and played in live broadcast through Radio Slovenia, was invited by Jeunesses Musicales to take part in an Ethno camp in Cyprus where representative musicians from all the Middle East countries bounded together produce a CD, and today he is a member of the West Eastern Divan Orchestra after receiving an invitation from Maestro Daniel Barenboim, with whom he played in the most important festivals such as Salzburg Festival, Lucerne Festival and The Proms.
