The object in the video is 256 4-face prims. It generates the path using one script entirely in Second Life. There is no trickery, this does not call to an outside server. The object next to the main board is a means to control the board.

The algorithm used is a combination of breadth first, and depth first searching.

Note: The video's speed is x2 to cut down on viewing time.

Regardless, the pathfinder will find its path, on average, in ~0.2 seconds.
