I hear you...however on this and other recent songs, I have opted for a less processed vocal specifically because the words are "lines" that are being acted to effect a raw feeling i.e. -- in this song "do you walk the walk..." can be interpreted as "how real are you".-- in an "in your face" sort of expression. The vocal is doubled, but with few effects.

Everybody is a critic and always professes to know what would be better than the finished product. Typically, a "if I wrote/recorded that I would've done this or that" type of comment. Granted, some people to know what they are talking about. People should simply enjoy the work of the artist and reflect within themselves and manifest their own interpretation of the artist's rendering. Art, especially music, is a very personal experience for the artist. One should enjoy it, or not enjoy it.
