@Thercflyer96 I'm assuming you don't have you license yet. If you did, you'd probably know this. Anyway, if you want to enter a conversation, you find an unoccupied frequency (tune into a frequency where you can't hear anything and ask if it's occupied, if nothing happens, it's not) and call CQ ("This is Kilo Juliett 6 Oscar Kilo Lima KJ6OKL calling CQ on [wavelength]" repeated in whatever order for about 20 seconds) and wait for a response.

@scottso241 I'm sure people can help you Scott, you can look on qrz forums and eham to see if someone is selling a cheap HF radio. You'd be surprised how cheap these radios can be now!
