In the beginning (the first few episodes), I found the show kinda lame, with mediocre acting. But as it progresses, it seems to get better. I'm starting to like it, altho I think the 'gay'ish behaviour from the males and females is a little over the top. Being a tough girl or a tomboy doesn't necessarily mean acting extremely like a guy, and the father and son are a little tooo feminine. I just think the gay roles from each of them might be over-dramatized.

@wa2tv I believe you are missing the whole point of the show. the message is that there is such a stereotype that both gay males and lesbian are expected to act a certain way or adopted flamboyantly feminine or masculine roles, respectively. This show is pure GENIE

@BLACKARAZZI I don't want to get into a war of words and pollute this person's page with back and forth arguing. I find that to be disrespectful to the owner, so I am going to be polite and respect your view.

@BLACKARAZZI Yeah, I have no clue what Brother to Brother is, but I'll watch that. The issue isn't that these men shouldn't be represented in media. The issue is when that one aspect, or category, of gay men are constantly shown as who we all are, it's all people have to base their opinion of us unless they actually have gay friends or just know differently. I liked this skit and thought it was funny. What's not funny is someone asking a legitimate question and getting attitude for it. Respect.

@Xzamilloh yes and many people in the gay community try to ignore the part of our community that are flamboyant and over the top - guess what - they exist and deserve to be on film and represented too...Like I said before, there are representations of non over the top gay characters in the media - try Omar from The Wire - or Anthony Mackie in Brother to Brother .... the people that did this project obviously chose to use two extremes for comedy's sake.
-
@BLACKARAZZI There is no need for the negative reply to @wa2tv 's comment. This is a question that has a lot of merit because it is brought up to me why I don't "act" gay because I am not feminine acting. Most people ignorant to gay life just seem fine with thinking that we are all over the top, glittered up, flamboyant acting and want to be women. It's like to act like anything other than what we're represented as is to be closeted on the DL.
-
@wa2tv get over yourself. there are plenty of different representations in the community. its a comedy. DUH!@

Love this episode
Dont get me wrong when I say this because I respect the hustle and I can see where your going with this whole "Gaye" Family, but why are men so over the top gay. Its like even in the gay community with film projects for a black gay man to seem remotely masculine he has to be on the DL, and if not DL he is extremely feminine.

@wa2tv Interesting question. We have asked the same question ourselves. This is exactly the type of dialogue we want our viewers to engage in or think about. However, our characters do not fit into either category you mentioned. Keep watching and you'll see what we mean!
