If the snow isn't very deep, or has been trampled down by previous hikers, just ordinary boots work OK--otherwise snow shoes. If the temperature is above 20 (F) or so, and the wind is calm, nothing special for clothing--just use multiple layers of clothing (including legs), thick socks and a warm hat. And you need a covering for your face, especially if there is any wind. The main thing is to NOT hike up rocky bluffs if there is ice (as opposed to simply snow) on the trails. One slip = injury.
