Is this written for a traditional violin, or a violino piccolo? According to some statement that Leopold Mozart wrote in a letter, the violino piccolo was a very common Italian instrument. I can understand that this is possible to play on a standard violin, but it seems likely that Vivaldi could have intended a piccolo instrument.
