Thunderstorms developed in Central NSW this afternoon. Cloudcover, a saturated atmosphere and warm upper level temps were the initial fears for today, however the surface dewpoints were incredible and combined with strong speed shear, severe thunderstorms still managed to develop. I intercepted a nasty little cell between Bathurst and Oberon, encountering winds between 100-110km/h. Hail was minimal given the warm upper temps, however I still got a few 1-2cm stones. Had the uppers been even average combined with a drier atmosphere, im sure I would've copped golf ball hail from this storm..
Great chase decision !!
