"Training is all a game." says Patton. "Dogs naturally understand our games, because they coevolved with us and our children." Recent research by Professor Brian Hare at the Duke Dog Cognition Lab has shown that dogs much better understand the social gestures of humans, than Chimps and Wolves, which are considered more intelligent.

The Hot Dog Method relies heavily on games and gestures, particularly pointing. "Dog and humans construct the most extraordinary symbiosis in all of nature." Patton calls this relationship a "merger" in his book, which analyzes the amazing, but negative impact this Pleistocene dream team has had on the planet. The book is currently being shopped to agents and publishers.
