Why Making Abortion Legal Made It More Dangerous

http://www.PriestsforLife.org Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, continues his series on preaching on abortion. In this video, Fr. Pavone explains that he often includes in his homily an example of why making abortion legal did not make it safe.

Fr. Pavone's reasoning for doing this is because "the other side that advocates abortion tries to make our people think that although it might be morally wrong, although it might even be the taking of the life of a child, nevertheless, it has to be kept legal because otherwise back ally abortionists will do all kinds of illegal things."

Fr. Pavone points out that "the only thing that changed when abortion was legalized, was that the back alley abortionists took their names off the back door and put them on the front." Fr. Pavone follows this up with a concrete example of Joy Davis, who administered six "safe and legal" abortion clinics in the United States. Fr. Frank helped her come into the Catholic Church after she rejected abortion. But in the clinics, she used to present herself as a doctor to her clients, even though she had never spent a single day in medical school. Moreover, she admitted that the clinics did not sterilize the instruments they used, because they just wanted to do as many abortion as possible in the shortest time possible.

"Legal does not mean safe," explains Fr. Pavone, "Let's make that clear to our people so they can stand with both the child and the child's parents."

First, you are painting abortion clinics with a wide brush. A lot has changed since the early 90s. Finally, I witnessed a "back alley" abortion where I watched a butch of teen-age boys beat the crap out of a teen-age girl's stomach. The "back alley" abortion didn't take and her parents later took her to a clinic to have a safe abortion. There is an example for you.
