That was a long enough race that you should have expected that outcome. The Speed Triple is heavier, less aerodynamic, and the 600 just carries itself a lot better up top. If top speed is your thing, don't buy a Speed Triple.

People also seem to be forgetting that the speed triples engine is tuned for strong mid range power and it runs out of puff at high revs anyway fairing or not.
