Game-changing new Economy 'Skycouch' seating at Air New Zealand

Air New Zealand has brought beds to economy on their new 777-300 and 787.

CEO Rob Fyfe and Project Manager Ed Sims briefed the crowds on Tuesdays event in Auckland, and demonstrated what makes the Skycouch economy seats so remarkable, and also showed us one of the designs that were rejected after nearly making the cut.

If you do decide to spalsh out and pay extra to fly Air New Zealand, then don`t be surprised if you end up on a completely different airline through the joy of code-sharing. Perhaps one where you could have brought the same ticket at half-price.

I don`t know how Air New Zealand can change Economy seating when they don`t even have economy tickets. Surely, when an `economy` ticket on air new zealand costs twice as much as a business class seat on Jetstar, it isn`t really economy. Just for example, return ticket to New Zealand from Tokyo, in July or August costs about $8000. Yes, eight thousand dollars.

OK I've got a question @6:54 when the guys are sleeping. What happens if the person in front of you have their seat Reclined like in normal economy seats? The Girl "in the video" would have the back of the seat in front of her in the face?? Isn't that a negligence in Design?

slept in one and it was the best sleep i ever got on a plane ever. and btw it comes with special seatbelts for sleeping in it.
