Tutorial/How-To - Make Your Own IRC Channel

This video will show you how to make your own IRC channel on the Epic-Chat network. You should make it on this network, because as it being a more unknown network, you will have the freedom of joining smaller communities, getting to know people, and less people trying to "hack" your channel.

Instructions:
1. Download X-Chat 2 IRC Client at: http://www.silverex.org/download/xchat-2.8.6-2.exe

2. Follow directions to instally X-Chat 2

3. Open the X-Chat 2 Shortcut and make a new network on the first screen. Name it Epic-Chat. Select it, and click Edit on the right. Afterwhich, you will click the tab that sais newserver/6667 under Servers for Epic-Chat delete the text, and type in: irc.epic-chat.net . Select the option of "Auto-Connect to this network at startup" and then under favorite channels, type in: #torrent-invites aswell as your desired channel. Click "ok" on all windows until you get to the last "server select" window

4. Make sure "Epic-Chat" is selected, and click connect. There will be a window popping up with two tabs open, #torrent-invites(which is a help channel) and your channel. Click on your channel, and type: /nick YOUR NICKNAME of course replacing YOUR NICKNAME with your desired nickname.

5. Now to register your nick, you will type: /ns register PASSWORD EMAIL again you are separating your password an your email with a space

6. Registering the channel... Were almost there! now you will type: /cs register YOURCHANNELNAME again obviousely replacing your channel name with your actual channel name.

7. A person called ChanServ will join your channel, he is a kind of bot that helps you maintain your channel. To learn more, type !help in your channel

8. And thats about it! you can start inviting your friends, and you now own your own IRC channel. if you need help, please talk in #torrent-invites, and someone will help you.

But you don't have to use X Chat or an IRC client to connect to IRC. I use Instantbird and Pidgin messengers. I have got both on my computer. And I find they are easy to use and work perfect for IRC chat. Andrea Borman.

@andrea22borman That is correct, but I just find downloading and using an IRC client the most convenient and easiest way to keep a continuous connection to the server, and to more easily manage the channel. You can also user a webirc client such a mibbit. Ps. Instantbird and Pidgin are IRC clients aswell ;)
