If you want to avoid all the tourists going to Makapu'u Lighthouse/Lookout but still want that spectacular view, this trail is the way to go. Because of the terrain, the trail can be hard to navigate, but just be on the lookout for pink, orange, or white ribbons tied to rocks and trees. The rain that hit the windward side of the island must have had steroids in it because all the plants here were overgrown like crazy. Unfortunately, it covered the path about halfway through the Makapu'u part of the trail, so we could not go any further without getting sliced up by thorny bushes and 6ft high grass. Hope to get to do the entire trail soon, just gotta remember to wear long pants and a longsleeve shirt.
