@WheelsRCool Actually between 1970-1983 Soviets had more infantry, heavy weapons and tanks than entire NATO. The only reason they didn't attack was nukes and CIA and Army were always banking on that fact.
In military planning exercises (or war games) run by Warsaw pact in 1976 and by NATO in 1978, soviets always overrun NATO in conventional war and it would have taken them 3-4 weeks to get to Atlantic.

The Soviets wouldn't have kicked our butts. Militarily, they weren't even really a match for the United States until the mid 1970s. In terms of nuclear bombs however, both sides owuld have lost big if it had ever come down to that.

I wouldn't go as far as say that. Considering the MAD doctrine, both the USSR and USA would have epically lost.

What's messed up is the Cold War only really came to be due to corrupt and paranoid politicians on both sides. They were such great allies in the later years of WWII.
