Betancourt was kidnapped in 2002. Colombia's Defense Minister says no one was hurt in the military's operation. He says army commandos captured the FARC rebels manning a security ring around the hostages without any loss of life. The other 11 hostages freed were Colombian soldiers and police. Betancourt - a French-Colombian - is the rebel group's highest-profile hostage She is believed to suffer from serious liver problems and was pictured looking frail in a recent video. The Farc group has been fighting to overthrow the Colombian government for more than 40 years. ___ ___, The Associated Press.

this is humanity at it's best, not 1 shot was fired, i am colombian and im proud, people need to know that guns and technology don't matter if people don't do stuff like this, they wanted to keep everyone alive, sure we could have gone and killed the terrorists, but the brave soldiers didn't, they risked themselves with only 1 person of the people who helped touched a gun, and it was when taking the gun one of the FARC operatives brought with him at all times.
