Hiking into the bottom of Waimea Canyon, the famed "Grand Canyon on the Pacific" on Kauai, we hike up canyon and then veer into Koaie Canyon, passing numerous archaeological sites along the way. Finally we arrive at Lonomea, a series of springs, waterfalls and slippery slide rock pools. In ancient times, this land was inhabited by the Ku'a A'ina (upland dwellers) of Kauai. Many rock walls are found along the trail and the Lonomea itself is a truly spectacular and healing destination.
