At least 43,000 people are still living in slavery across Niger. They are born into an established slave class and labour for their masters without pay. Slaves are inherited, given as gifts, and sometimes have their children taken away from them. In April 2008, Hadijatou Mani, a former slave, took the state of Niger to court for failing to implement its own laws against slavery. People & Power follows her story.

if you think slavery is an islamic mandate then you have no clue as to what islam is. Christianity was used to perpetuate the institution of slavery in the United States and Europe, yet no one is, today, dumb enough to suggest slavery is mandated by the teachings of Christ (peace be upon him). yes they are minority religions. the MAJORITY dictate the society. hence the caste system influencing the PEOPLE who practice those religions and not the RELIGION ITSELF. So if a muslim applies for a job he/she will be subject to the hindu caste system. likewise if a hindu commits a crime in a islamic country, islamic law will be implemented to that individual.

back to the point, most muslim arabic states still practice black african slavery.
