Ann Bancroft, an American author, teacher, and adventurer talks of her journeys to the Arctic and Antarctic and the life lessons she learned. She was the first woman to successfully finish a number of arduous expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctic.
She was also the first woman to ski across Greenland.[citation needed] In 1992 and 1993 Bancroft led a four woman expedition to the South Pole on skis.[citation needed] This expedition was the first group of women to reach the South Pole on skis. Her achievements led to her induction into the National Women's Hall of Fame for the United States.
