"This work celebrates the growth that occurs in the harsh conditions of the high desert. Despite the lack of moisture, hot temperatures and high winds, life manages to find a foothold and then hangs on to grow and even flourish with what seems like an almost heroic effort. In some ways this is analogous to our culture.

The palette in this collection has been extracted from the high desert environments. The green tones, as well as the looping undulating lines that work their way over and under fields of white, have been drawn from the desert plant life. The red oxides from the soil and the rocks of the desert have inspired much of the earth tones, and the deep strong blue comes from the clear and powerful sky of the southwest."
