Little Wonder No. 829 "The Dixie Volunteers" (Fox-trot) Violin and Piano Duet. First issued circa early 1918. Played on my VV-IV.

A less-than-stellar record to introduce my VV-IV (manufactured in 1919). The VV-IV was the base model Victrola, slightly smaller than the VV-VI, which has been featured in my other clips. This machine has sat idle for 3 years, and just this evening before making this recording, we got her up and running. Hope you enjoy.

  • Considering its age and the likelihood the original owner probably played it on a well-worn machine with infrequent stylus changes, it sounds great! If one closes their eyes and imagines, one can almost see a sweet candle-lit southern country dance party.
