I saw the crew shooting scenes in Whitechapel, back in the early 60's when I was PC384 HLat Leman St.nick.He came into the station one night when I was struggling witha drunk, who said to "Dixon" and his plain clothes detective,"you're the bastard that knocked me off last time." I Jack Warner was quite chuffed that he was taken for a real copper.Changed days.East London was a great place to be a copper in those days.

@thetruth583 Absolutley bang on..Society has changed no fault of the police..If these scumbugs think their above the law then they get a heavy reaction from the police...The police are what the public make them...simple

@colinclarke1000 Your so right. IT WAS A Different time...Society was different there was more respect..The police had backup from the public..Kids late out on the streets the police would take them home and speak to the parents..and let them know about the dangers.. It nipped it in the bud..Different world today things have got totally out of control..Prisons like a holiday camp..tvs in the cells Things will get worse

@owdplod mate there good and bad in all walks of live...coppers included...and you're right to a certain extent...the police have to.put up with a lot of sh*t...because people have no bloody respect for other people.
-
@owdplod no doubt what you say is true ,i mean a rail guard told me recently that a colleague of his is being done for assault for gently shaking a sleeping passenger by the shoulder .But is it true that you blokes spend half your time in classrooms learning how to be PC (no pun intended)
-
I learned about this from the UK's "The Office." David Brent says "Who am I, then, Dixon of Dock Green? Evening, all". Had to look that up!

@owdplod I stand by what I say ! seeing a police officer hitting an innocent person walking by in the street with their batton and their colleagues standing thier watching, shows true to what they are ( thugs in uniforms ) and when you see a wheelchair user ( who cannot walk ) being thrown out thier wheelchair for demonstrating in what they beleave in, again it shows what they are Or the police officer who left his dogs in the car ( causing the deaths of both dogs ) I can see very clearly !!

What??? I'm an ordinary Bobby for WMP. Go to your local station and ask if you can enrol on the 'Ride along scheme'. It gives the public the chance to ride in the back of a patrol vehicle and see some of the abuse that police have to deal with. It's free, so before you criticize police take the chance to see what actually happens and what police have to deal with.

Speaking as an ordinary Copper for West Midlands Police, the public will knife you as soon as look at you if they can get away with it. There is no golden age of the 50's...it's all a myth in relation to policing and thanks to the drug and ME culture that is rife today it would take a number of officers to contain one person who is out of his or her head on illegal drugs. A clip round the ear would result in assault charges being laid at the officer who did it.

What went wrong? you don't have be a genius to work that out- Society changed, immigration, a get rich quick culture, benefit scroungers, disrespect for hard work and honesty, no respect for law. None of those were the fault of the Police. Society gets the Police force it deserves.
At least the coppers in those days looked like coppers and not Thugs in uniform like these days. AND they could sing in the old days lol
