Otraeh, a small village near the city of Kompongsom, Cambodia. These villagers have been chased out of their original settlement by the military, and now have no choice but to settle down along a dusty road. They have lost their lands, and they have no money. They live in tent, covered with plastic sheets and tins.
It is extremely hot under the tent, during the day, and so the people prefer to stay out of their tiny tents. As the tents are pitched along a dusty road, the roofs are covered with dusts. Furthermore, as the road is unpaved the dust rises whenever a car passes by; and trucks loaded with earth will pass the village very frequently (a dozen or more every hour). The dust enters the body and irritates the throat, causing sore throat, and also other inconvenience. The people suffer daily, without knowing when things will better. The only source of water for the whole village is from a well in the middle of the village, and during dry season, they have to travel to another well, which is of a considerable distance. The previous well, from which they drew their water, was filed with sand, rendering it useless.
