@MightyIronHead Safin, does it big time, a lot of players don't, they stay put but bring the back leg in, like Krajicek, Nadal or Bjorg, but there are some that don't do either those that use the platform stance, which is what I do. I think it's sort of like snooker. Every snooker book advises you to 1.) take a step back from the table and look 2.) step/walk INTO the shot( take a step into the shot before beinding and aiming. and then play it. You'll notice snooker players doing that

can anyone answer this for me, why does federer take a small step with his front foot when he serves. I notice a lot of pros do this, what is the benefit or is it just a habit that they have?
