Me playing Sonata Arctica's song Letter to Dana on my keyboard (I'm mainly playing the vocal melody and lead keyboard/flute parts, not the actual keyboard chords).

It's a bit quiet because my webcam's crap and gets distorted at medium to high volumes. It also goes a bit glitchy at the end because my webcam's crap and records video in stupidly large files that fill up my hard drive. I also mess up a little bit because I'm not perfect, sue me. ;)

  • dude that is the coolest freaking thing I have ever seen, how much to keytars go for??

and a suggestion for playing: don't mash the keys so hard, lol. ya just need to chill and not put all your power into pressing the keys

  • That model sells for around £300, though it is now out of production. I'd guess there are cheap ones and expensive like with any kind of instrument.

  • You should play waht the keyboard does in the song and not the vocals

  • Except that the keyboard track for this song is infinitely boring...

  • A baby can learn to play that easy =P you suck, you just plays what Tony sings and then the flute

  • I know what I'm playing thank you, and I know it's easy. But would you rather I was holding just one string chord per bar? I don't think that would be particularly interesting or challenging.

  • yeah! 8 bit sonata ftw!

  • @BoundWithDuctTape There are currently two production models, the AX-Synth is the one most like the AX-7, which Offski88 uses in this video. It runs a bit over 1200 USD after tax. (don't know the price in other currencies). It has its own synth module as well as midi out, so you can plug in regular 1/4th inch TRS cables to play it. the other model, AX-09 Lucina, looks totally different, is about half the price, and looks like a slim model for the AX-synth. Also comes with a built-in synth.

  • where did you take the keyboard sheet?

  • Well this is boring.

  • First, playing the melody through the whole song don't prove anything zept you're capable of learning "something" at all. Or simply just remembering.

Second, you skipped the guitar solo? It's just as simple as the melody..

Third, change tone and play more smooth.

Other than that, it was okay.

  • FUCKING AWESOME KEYTAR DUDE!!!

    does it have weighted keys???

    what brand is it?

  • @BoundWithDuctTape when i bought my ax-1 on ebay it was around 1000$ that's around how much roland's go for.

  • Please.. keyboard should not be played for the voice. please use chords and better sounds. check my version

  • this is actually a good cover.

it's sort of like Chipbreak Sonata.

  • Nice keytar. It deserves to have leads played on it though, and not this.
