@zboyco That is incorrect. Florida Highway Patrol officers are called State Troopers. The FHP and its troopers are state law enforcement officers (LEOs), and as such are considered police officers. They have the power to enforce Florida state law and make arrests. Still, they are not state police: the Florida Constitution stipulates that the chief law enforcement officer of a Florida county is that county's sheriff.
Can anyone tell me anything about how they decide where in Florida you will be working? I live in Pensacola and would rather like to stay there. Also I want to be part of their canine division, and I was wondering how to go about trying to do that. Anyone know anything about this?
@JNIXONAPD yeah, shave and wear proper dress clothes. Also, if you have any tattoos from your elbow down to your wrist, don't waste your time taking the test. You'll be disqualified before taking the written test.
@Three1Bravo Good luck the physical is fun I did it about four years ago I would not do it the way I did it I did both in the same day your brain is going so fast and you trying to take the test after it is not good. But any who I would say the only hard thing was the body drag that was the hardes good luck and dont drink any energy drinks b4 the phy.
Just received a letter inviting me to take the written and physical test. I am from NY and will be flying down there for the test. Looking forward to it.
@ShotgunRyan You're right, there's no state police in Florida. State police officers patrol and conduct investigations off the highway, and if you live in the country in a state with state police, those are the guys that will answer your 911 call. A highway patrol organization only patrols the highway.
@RadarGuidedVermin retarded perhaps??? obsessed much???? haaaaaaa
