@KatiushaVN4 Yep. Pretty much perverts. There's really no reason why a non-asian guy would actually NEED to go to Thailand. When guys say, "oh I want to go to Thailand....." It's an incomplete sentence. It usually should be finished off by...."so I can go do some hookers." When I was in the Navy, guys on the ship LOVED Thailand. The only thing they didn't like were the pesky little bugs they passed on to their spouce once they got back home. Always thought it would make good reality TV.

I'm sensitive to the White men that have been to Thailand. Those men are more likely perverts

My suggestion that you should go by thai airways because i think they are better then the bangkok airways. THAI FTW!

The last I visited Vietnam you did need a visa, which can be acquired from the Vietnam embassy in Bangkok . Enjoy your trip to Vietnam, It will be an experience you won't forget.

@Goorney: How long did it take to get the Vietnam visa in Bangkok? Do they have same day service?

Hello Dbanik, As it happens I have just obtained a new visa from the Vietnam Embassy in Bangkok, it took just 1 day (next day) to process and cost 2300 baht. To find the Embassy, get of the sky train at Phloen Chit and walk 5 min south along Wireless Road. Ps. make sure you bring along 2 passport photos.

@Goorney: Thanks mate! I'm thinking of doing an overland journey from Bangkok to Saigon, covering Angkor Wat on the way. But I'm not sure if I should try for the Vietnam visa in Bangkok or Phnom Penh. Info on the web is really all over the place...looks like the Vietnam embassies change their policies at whim. Time is a major constraint for me, so I'm hoping for a "same day" service. That's how it was at the Cambodian embassy in BKK when I tried them back in 2006 - quick and easy.

No problem cheers, I obtained a Vietnam visa just 3 days ago. The journey from Bangkok to Saigon or vise versa is fine, as each jouney from Bangkok to Aranyapathet (on Cambodian border)(don't stay at Poipet), to Siem Reap, to Phom Penh and finally to Saigon take about 4 hours.
