Go inside the legal, but inhumane world of dog auctions. Rare footage from multiple dog auctions shows how dogs are treated like livestock and are passed around from one kennel to another, with no regard for their health or well-being, and certainly no regard for the emotional trauma they endure.

The USDA needs to be fixing these problems. And why are there mainly Amish people there? Also, it's just sad to see these KIDS involed in them...

These puppy millers have no hearts. The Amish are the worst. Ive seen these first hand and they will chase you away with bats for trying to take photos. They will auction a dig with no legs as long as she has a few litters left in her.

Good breeders don't go to these things. The only people who attend these auctions are the operators of puppy mills. If we criminalize dog auctions we will make it that much harder for puppy mills to operate and stay in business. Instead of being able to transport all their sick and injured "livestock" to one convenient location to sell them, they would be forced to sell them individually and transport them directly to buyers. It would be more work for less profit.

I understand being upset about the sick puppies, as a former volunteer for the animal shelter I've seen more than a few sick little guys and it's horrible, but what exactly is wrong with auctioning? Don't people auction horses? Horses are all about good breeding, and I see nothing wrong with celebrating good breeding for those who are into that.

I'm not sure if I'm just really misunderstanding this video. Is it about auctioning being inherently bad, or the state in which these auctions are held?

I'm appalled that in this day and age this sort of deplorable treatment to animals is still happening. Good on those people who risk everything to take this footage to show the world. One day we will put a stop to it....i hope.

On regulations.gov under document ID APHIS-2011-0003-0001.

"...the proposed rule would increase from three to four the

number of breeding female dogs, cats, and/or small exotic or wild

mammals that a person may maintain on his or her premises and be exempt

from licensing and inspection if he or she sells only the offspring of

those animals born and raised on his or her premises for use as pets or

exhibition, regardless of whether those animals are sold at retail or

    wholesale."

those of us who are genuine animal lovers and want to see the betterment of breeds by simply keeping the breed from going extinct instead of vegans wearing hemp shoes are about to kick the hippies back to focusing on legalizing weed instead of stalking our houses and trespassing on our property to make illegal videos to post on youtube

Current AWA regulations do not require licensing of “retail pet stores”. The newly proposed rule will significantly narrow the definition of retail pet stores so that: “Retail pet store means any outlet a place of business or residence that each buyer physically enters in order to personally observe the animals available for sale prior to purchase and/or to take custody of the animals after purchase …” .
