The Civil War between the Northern and Southern states was the costliest and bloodiest war in the U.S. history. At stake was the nation's very existence. Between 1861 and 1865, countless battles were fought and thousands of lives were lost all in the name of preserving the Union. Famous battles at Shiloh, Antietam, and Gettysburg pitted brother against brother and neighbor against neighbor. Union General Ulysses S. Grant and Confederate General Robert E. Lee became legends. The President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, became a martyr in his noble crusade to end slavery. From the first shots fired upon Fort Sumter to surrender at Appomattox Court House, the Civil War would change America from a nation divided to a truly United States forever.
wikipedia is not a creditable reference, it contains only garbage history.

@live414 - where are you getting this??? Just because you say something doesn't make it true. Believe what you want, though...even if it only exists in your imagination.

@Live414 you stupid fuck -- United STATES retard. Notice the word STATES.
Plus you stupid fuck, the Articles of COnfederation, which started the US, its full name was The Artilcles of Confederation for a PERPETUAL UNION.
But that's not the point dumb fuck. The South was invading other states, killing voters, stopping free speech for 40 years, etc. Where in the fucking constitution can they do that, you stupid fuck.

"A Nation Divided" is wrong!
The union is not a nation, it is a union of nations.
There is no difference between the American Union, and the European Union, which is also a union of free and independent nations.

Pity we ever fought this war! Just think, the beautiful north without the south! Cool! The Bible Belt South would be just like South Africa, the north like Canada.

This all is true enough -- but it leaves out the real motivation of slave owners. Do you think they liked cotton? Or was it the power, prestige, and pussy (yes pussy) they got from slavery and slave profit?
Why not just speak the truth -- slave owners loved the profit, power, and pussy they got from slaves. They weren't cotton addicts -- they were power and pussy addicts.
