dear god that sounds like death! but im gonna give u the benefit of the doubt it may be the mic on the camera ur usin i highly doubt it is but hey who knows....

it did actually sounds like death, at the time a didnt have the sub sealed to the box, so you can hear the air "puffing" between the sub and box, its all sealed now and it sounds mint as, crisp bass :)

Whats a guy get for one of these? say they were to buy a set, what do they run at as far as pricing?

um, the sub cost me $600NZD. and the amp was about $795NZD.

plus the box, which you will have to make yourself of get custom made, which can get pricey.

For massive SPL, don't just put your trunk full of amps and subs, this will cost alot of money and you'll need alot of battery power. Just make a ported box with the CORRECT dimensions for your sub, do so for only one or two subs. Get a simple monoblock amp. This setup will cost you less and will probably hit harder. Again, build the right enclosure.. a good box is VERY IMPORTANT for how the sub will sound like, that's something alot of people often forget.

I know I'll get flamed for this but even over the distortion of the camera it seems like your subs clipping out also all well and good having a butt load of bass but if you haven't got the trebles to go with it there really isn't much point
