Worth mentioning:

I'm currently (for three days) owner of collapsible staff. There is a lttile space beetween tubes and if you are doing "martial flow" you might mind it. Also in the moves where you swing the staff holding by one end you might loosen one tube and finally it might fly away (happened two times).

So I'd say: if you're not in need of collapsible staff, much wiser will be picking the solid one.
