the only thing weirder than his style is his choice of cymbals, K Dark Series, Constantinople and A Custom....yet they somehow work together. Hes a genius

NOBODY.. NOBODY has ever had his tense of timing on the drums. You can argue any other aspect of his playing but not that.

@gdman4527 Great comments and great insight gdman4527. I own Keith's video and you can really see what you're talking about on that video. He usually starts his solos with a groove and then lets his ideas flow from that groove. No matter what else he chooses to play from there, the groove is not lost. Great way to practice in our rehearsal studios.

Fidgity style? Rolls couldn't be more both precise and fluid. And you don't even want to get me started about "the groove". Keith is probably one of the funkiest precision cats, that hasn't been thrown into the "gospel drummer" category! lol! Love the "gospel drummer" cats, but I love Carlock, Gadd and Erskine, equally as much :-)

It's true.....drums can sing! Genius....

pause, play, and push 2 repeatedly

I saw him at the St. Michelle Winery with the dan and was blown away on the first song, Royal Scam. Un believeable!

Very original style. Doesn't focus on sounding fast or having "flash". He just plays the pocket, syncopates well and uses dynamics to his advantage very well. Usually drummers tend to have one one sound setting when playing (loud) but he does not. A great model to drummers. Playing fast is not the only aspect to drumming. Timing and syncopation are crucial.

Very true, Alice! Keith is a great and humble person, on top of being a major kick ass drummer. I had the privilege of playing drums and graduating high school with Keith. He is still the same person he was back then. Fun, funny and amazingly talented! However, sorry he is MARRIED to an awesome lady! i am sure both are flattered :) cheers, Ryan

more chops than mr miyagi.
This guy has more groove, lyricism, creativity, dynamics, phrasing and chops in one finger than most musicians have in their entire body.
