my jaw's fixed shut
not allowed to chew
on a liquid diet
and i got the blues

i want a piece a chicken
or a slab of barbecue
any sandwich or a pizza
would shake away these blues

but i can't have none of that stuff
lord this liquid diet's tough
please doctor tell me that i'm through

can't eat no tuna
can't eat no pies
can't eat no burgers
with tater tots or fries

can't eat no pasta
no ravioli or penne
can't have no lasagna
oh but maybe some day

can't eat no burrito
tortillas are too hard
gotta settle for refried beans
fortified with lard

can't have no nachos
or tacos al pastor
'cause those aren't the kinda foods
that a person can pour

can't have no sushi
or even a bowl of rice
i'd kill for some unagi
but tempura would be nice

can't roll up no egg rolls
or chow down on chow mein
but missing general david's chicken
might make me go insane

can't have no pad see ewe
and for pad thai i'm out of luck
i'd love to have some gang karee
but my mouth is all tied up
