@ciscokitty8 the last two letters are builders marks M after TBM is for Lockheed Martin back then it was known as Martin Marietta. F after TBF is for Fairchild Republic. GM and Grumman are backers of the planes. How I know this is my grandpa told me he flew these in Korea.

@DudeJulian Because thats what happend? during the late part of the war Japan had lost 99.99% of its skilled pilots because of the losses during the first part of the war while the US Navy lost very very few pilots so the Japanies pilots got worse and the Us Pilots got better
