This is a clip from my lecture/concert for the West Houston SDA Church on May 11, 2007. It is taken from the "house video" made by that church. This clip illustrates the basic scales in Suzanne Haik-Vantoura's deciphering key to the musical accents of the Masoretic Text, for both the so-called "prose accents" and the so-called "poetic accents". (I prefer to call the two systems *prosodia* and *psalmodia*, after their ancient Greek equivalents. Haik-Vantoura used "prosody" and "psalmody", but the meanings of those words have changed over the centuries.) The clip also illustrates the interaction of the superlinear and the sublinear accents and the maximum range or *ambitus* of the reconstructed melodies (eleven degrees).
