After a thorough warm-up using a couple of pink bands over multiple angles, I hit log press.

After a couple quick sets of 210 to grease the groove, I threw on 250, then missed 280, but got it the second time.

This is the most I have done in a while.

So I loaded it up to 300 even and gave it a run. I came about an inch from lockout on the first one and then the next one came less close.

I broke it back down to 250 again and hit a triple

Then I broke it down to 210 and thought I could strict press it for at least three but could only get one.

Next, I went on to bench. I worked up to 315 and then did a rest pause set with 275.

That was all I did for upper body I was just dying to get into grip.

Started the grip stuff with grippers. Did a warm-up with a 145-lb #3 and held it for a few seconds then I did 3 or 4 work sets with the #4. For the next two weeks, all my work sets are going to be with the #4. It's a 199.2-lb 4.

The reason I am doing all the #4 work has to do with what happened when I first started training grippers.

Smitty got a number one and I closed it after a couple of weeks.

So I soon bought my own grippers - a #1 and a #2. As soon as I started squeezing the #2, the #1 became a joke and I could close it any time I wanted.

So what I am hoping is that by squeezing the #4 so much, it will make the #3.5 feel like jello.

Next, I moved on to some other grip stuff - TTK, Mister Spongy, and the Anvil + towel.

The TTK, Rick says, is supposed to be great and I have done some TTK training, but not a ton. i am going to hit a bunch of TTK during this #4 concentration period.

Mister Spongy is a FBBC pinch block attached to a 50-lb DB with a purple jump stretch band. Nobody was able to load this implement during the GGC medley besides me. Some dudes thought it was impossible actually.

The anvil plus towel is a 55-lb anvil with a towel draped over it. The anvil alone is just too easy but the towel makes it harder. I lifted it easily one day in training so I decided to put it in the medley. Then I couldn't lift it at the contest. If I had lifted it, i would have finished in first place in the medley and it might have been enough points to get into first place over all?? The video will be up soon on my youtube channel and I will post it here as well.

Looking forward to posting more workouts if it interestes people.

All the best in your training.

  • When I see you lifting .. how bad is that for one's back?

    I just wonder.

  • @Daffan2007 Naturally, you have to do the lifts with the right technique, so you don't hurt your back.

There is some risk, but the log jerk does not put much strain on the back.

  • FIRE-WALK???

    Where is the fire??? ;)

  • @Daffan2007 Need to get me some lighter fluid and do this thing right.

  • @Daffan2007 That was what I was calling my workout at the time. Fire Walk with Me is also the name of the prequel movie to the 1990's TV series, Twin Peaks. That is actually where the creepy lead-in is adapted from, that movie and tv series.

  • good stuff jedd. that intro was kinda creepy though :)

  • @jm89074 Thanks buddy.

  • @JeddJohnson Ok, thanks for explaining.

    I learn something everyday ;) --))

  • @JeddJohnson That would be an idea ;) --))

Why do you call it FIRE-WALK?

Yep, some people are using another language ... and English is their second or third ;)

  • @msb8384 Thanks man.
