Speaking at the London School of Economics, Taiwan Minister of Education Tu Cheng-sheng says openly what others can't (because of China's political pressure and military threats) or won't say: "I am Taiwanese."

Just so you'll know, the yellow, green, red, and blue titles are of my own creation.

Read more about the speech here:

Check out a screenshot of commenter rheekeekee's profile which says "Country: Taiwan" here:

P.S.: If anyone has any idea why I get that gray stuff at the beginning where it should be black, please leave a comment so I can avoid that in future uploads.

  • Taiwan will never cease to fight against China. A broke away province or not, at least Taiwanese are not being ruled by China. We paid our tax to the taiwanese government..not china.

  • I think I would put it just a little differently. Taiwan will cease to fight *back* against China when China stops making threats and blocking Taiwan's participation in international organizations such as the WHO. *China* are the real troublemakers, as shown clearly by their recent unannounced missile test. Taiwan is definitely *not* part of the PRC.

  • He can jump or do whatever he wants but, as long as he displays such a mediocre oratory ability, such efforts amount to nothing. By the way, Taiwan is a mere province of China.

  • Rheekeekee imagines that "Taiwan is a mere province..." but his/her profile says "Country: Taiwan." You'd better change it to "China" if you actually believe yourself. As far as language skills go, what is "He can jump or do whatever he wants but,"?

  • china lacks/needs everything BUT human resources, i would rather have a taiwan in rubbles but a complete china than a taiwan which is an american puppet.

  • Yes to the reality of Taiwan Independence. No to the fantasy of Chinese hegemony. "[T]aiwan in rubbles"? Who needs you?

  • good point!

  • Actually, I do mean never cease fighting against China unless...China is a democratic country under a new government, or better, the Taiwan government, Green ftw.

  • Why is the Beijing government so afraid of Minister Tu? Because his argument ran straight into the core of the hypocrisy created by Chinese nationalism and imperialism. Mr Tu is indeed a man of his class! As a British, I support whoever is true to their own self.

  • T.T, dude I love you man stood up for the Taiwanese against those commies

  • I am not a Chinese nor a Taiwanese. I am a Canadian. But I support Taiwan and I believe Taiwan is a great country. Just don't trust KMT. They will give too much power to Chinese Communist Party. Keep the DPP in power, but vote for a DPP president who is better than Chen sui bian. I believe in your country. My people believe in your country.

  • Isn't the world so lucky you are not in power?
