The department store building in Memphis was demolished 2000 or so. It was built in 1967 as the JB Hunter Dept. Store. The city's main library now stands there.

That elevator reminds me of the glass elevator at Prada in Soho in Nyc.It is shaped like a circle and its huge. There is even seats on it!! It has glass doors also
-
@informraa Actually it does. Either the elevator will start to nudge or it will make the motherboard receive the call(so called spam).

You think that is huge elevetor? In Memphis, TN , where I'm originally from (I'm a Tempe resident now), there was a department store on Poplar Ave (no longer there) that had a public passenger elevator (not the freight elevator) that had a capacity of 150 passengers. It was designed to hold people and their shopping carts. I am not kidding--you could walk 20 steps from one end to the other in that thing! I also rode a similar one at a museum in Los Angeles.

@tempetiger Oh Gosh, prolly like 18000 pounds!!!! If that public elevator was big, the freight elevator prolly was able to hold a car lol. Is the building still there or did they demolish it?
