  • I just got myself a medicine ball when I saw you use it in another video on chipping. I must have totally missed this video, but glad I stumbled upon it. I haven't been able to feel the heavy momentum, and toss/fall concept, so I am hoping this gets me that feeling. Thanks!

  • @cmterpsnskins It will definitely help! See "overswing and fast backswing; shawn clement" video as well for some extra help on this; Shawn

  • Shawn, you mentioned having the clubface looking like it is shut before the elbow hinge, but it is actually still facing the direction of the swing plane. When the right arm actually folds, I've seen most players have the face perpendicular to the plane, and others- more like Dustin Johnson, that have the clubface continue to face the direction of the swing plane. What are your thoughts on how this should actually be?

  • @paularagon11 You said it very well! I place a magnetic stem on the face of the club to show how the face stays on the plane of the swing like you say; but as soon as the right arm folds and the wrists hinge, the face flip flops to the leading edge being on plane; I will be doing another video of my takeaway soon and we will be talking about it; BTW; this is not something you should be trying to manipulate in doing; it just happens with a good set up; Shawn

  • I overlooked this one. A genuine gem,this drill. This drill kills a few dozen flocks of birds with one stone.

    -Spine angle/axis;

    - Taut arms;

    -Single arm/shoulder unit

    -Feeling of being in motion;

    The stance with the butt end of the grip/medicine ball very close to the body, is this for the short irons only ?

    Thanks

  • Thanks for the great comment and realizations!

    This drill is for all clubs; chipping and pitching as well!

    Longer irons and woods would be more away from the body with the hands and arms but the essence is the same! Shawn

  • Juat awesome

  • I use a medicine ball in all my conditioning programs for golfers. But seeing you explain it is helping me with my golf swing :)

    Having the hands even with each other on the takeaway is one I need to work on.

  • thnx shawn
