The word 'cunt' (vagina) was only termed 'vulgar' by the Normans because it's an Anglo-Saxon word and they wanted to change the whole language, rather like 'fuck' (sex) or 'shit' (faeces) - the equivalent Norman words are not deemed offensive but ultimately mean the same thing.
