  • oh my god 3:45 hahaha

  • It´s the film of course.

  • And what is that? I suppose Beethoven, but what? A "Bagatelle"?

  • You see it at the beginning of the movie.

  • Thanks but the main work was NOT the Beethoven Hammerklavier but the last 3 sonatas op109 op110 op111 , the last one being on DVD

  • Thanks for correcting, it´s quite right, I have it in my collection. A slip of attention - - - sorry!

  • I was among the audience in this recital. He stayed in Japan from April till June in 1974.

I then had 4 occasions to listen to his performances in Tokyo, Hamamatsu, Nagoya and Kyoto. To everybody´s surprise he came with the notes. He was not watching it though. He was then physically in bad conditions.

    It was still "Richter"!!

Hi. Unfortunately, no. He was the greatest sightreader and often came to concerts with the score.

Lucky you to hear him also!!! He was unique. I was lucky enough to hear Horowitz, Rubenstein, Gilels but nobody came close to Richter. Horowitz was another story.... They don't have pianists like this today, I'm sad to say. Pollini is great. Barenboim is good, but academic...Martha is great....but it's not like the first bunch. best regards.

  • @francescaemc2 :did you see him play the Beethoven op106(Hammerklavier)?

  • the blessed person who uploaded this video, also uploaded the rest of this recital, 2 Haydn sonatas, superbly played. I would have to guess that the Sony Corp. took these off YT because of copyright concerns.

  • @skryabyn Only the truest of piano virtuosos properly manage this little known keyboard technique (A).

  • omg its the best opening for the brahms ever heard. hahahaha

  • @skryabyn

That piano was crying so much with Brahms music :)

  • @dmcII D'oh - I didn't see this was from 1974 which was about 20 years before Richter died ! Guess he was playing Yamahas a little sooner than I thought....:)

  • @samsonno Yeah - Analog technology.

  • @brozors Yes it is. Towards the end of his career, Richter was more drawn to Yamahas.
