  • I like onsens but not when it's 30*C outside. Glad you like the video. Check my other videos around Hanamaki and Morioka.

  • I got the phone from the US, it's the unlocked version. As far as I know it works anywhere in the world. It's GSM and CDMA compatible. The only things that I can't use are SMS and MMS. I use gmail for messages works fine. Yes Nokia pulled out of Japan 2 years ago, too bad. Still it's easy to find them on the auction sites. There is also a software designed to be able to read and write Japanese. I found a carrier that offers servive only. I got a stand for the phone, fits perfectly.

  • @ouagadougou62 Cool. Can you make a video there you show is the software that makes you read and write in Japanese? And the e-mail instead of SMS and MMS ? I have seen that some Japanese phones can choose a background picture in their mail. Can the N8 do that?

  • @jojosisi Hi, about the software, there is a software available to read and write Japanese. I don't use it. Until now to see Japanese web sites I used Opera mini. Since I updated to Belle I don't need it anymore. The update supports Japanese fonts but I can't write still. About the service I use a company bmobile their service is specially designed for foreign phones. It's a flat fee about $45/mo unlimited internet. I don't talk much but so far it's cheaper than my previous carrier.

  • @jojosisi Hi again, about those messages that's a carrier kind of programs. I can't use those no interest in them. I use Yahoo and Gmail, so I can use the features built in those only. About bmobile they don't support MMS only SMS but I use regular email since all phones can receive those. Also about 3G it7s convenient but whenever possible I use WIFI it's faster and easier on the battery. The battery is quite good I use my phone with sport tracker GPS for up to 5 hours

  • Hi, how is bmobile's service? I am going to be working in japan soon and I want to use my n8 too. Any recommendations or tips?

  • @ouagadougou62 (sorry , had to slit my reply since it was too long for the comment box) How is the e-mail application affection the battery time ? And do the Japanese cellphone operator charge you for usage of 3G ? Because the e-mail application use 3G to recive and send e-mails, and must cost a lot if not 3G is free ( and that must use much battery power to just to be constantly using 3G ? or ? )

  • Natukashii! Did you go end up in the onsen?

  • Nice video.

    A few questions.

Did you buy your N8 from Japan ? (read that Nokia has pulled out of the japanese market).

Does all the things on the phone work? Read that Japan have some kind of special network system. I think I read in my instructions manual in my E7 that it will work all over the world.

Nice quality. How did you hold the camera still ? A holder for your phone ?
