Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic opens the CAR Project Conference

BEOGRAD, 07. jul 2010. (FoNet) - Jedan od osnovnih ciljeva borbe protiv organizovanog kriminala je oduzimanje imovine stečene kriminalom, izjavio je danas ministar unutrašnjih poslova Srbije Ivica Dačić, objašnjavajući da je imovina motiv zašto se formiraju kriminalne grupe, koje tu imovinu potom pokušavaju da prebace u legalne tokove.

"Za godinu dana sprovedeno je 35 finansijskih istraga, kojima je obuhvaćeno 323 lica", rekao je Dačić, na konferenciji posvećenoj oduzimanju imovine stečene krivičnim delima.

Prema njegovim rečima, zaplenjena je imovina u vidu 434 nekretnine, 345 vozila, nešto preko devet miliona evra I više od 20 miliona dinara.

Primenom zakona o oduzimanju ove vrste imovine, zaplenjena je imovina u iznosu od 150 miliona evra, dodala je ministarka pravde Srbije Snežana Malović..

EU funded programme, implemented by the Council of Europe, "Criminal Assets Recovery", kicked off with the Start-Up Conference on Tuesday, July 7 at 10:00h, at the Kontinental Hotel (Milentija Popovica 7b).

Opening speakers included Serbian Interior Minister and First Deputy Prime Minister Ivica DAČIĆ, Justice Minister Snežana MALOVIĆ, President of the Supreme Court of Cassation Nata MESAROVIĆ, Serbian Public Prosecutor Zagorka DOLOVAC, Head of EU Delegation to Serbia, Ambassador Vincent DEGERT, Special Representative of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Ambassador Constantin YEROCOSTOPOULOS and Ms Marja RUOTANEN, Director of Cooperation, Directorate General of Human Rights and Legal affaires, Council of Europe.

After the opening remarks, a working session on "ECHR jurisprudence and challenges in Serbia" with local and international experts is scheduled from 1130 to 1400h, when conclusions should be presented.

The Purpose of this Project is to enhance the institutional capacity and efficient functioning of the Directorate for Management of Seized and Confiscated Assets at the Ministry of Justice, the Financial Investigation Unit of the Ministry of Interior as well as other key institutions involved in the search, seizure, management and confiscation of the proceeds from crime in the Republic of Serbia.
