if you just watch what he's playing and listen to the parts you can hear, you'll notice that simple as the beat is he plays it really tightly... most guys drumming for 5 years probably couldn't do it like this

Stevie's actually a pretty good drummer. I'm sure he recorded some of the drum parts on his albums.
